a color story: the discord conversation

neutrality in a meandering multi-topic discussion

I ventured out to a virtual discussion -  my color lens smudged from a lack of perspective. My mind wondered whether if other people felt such an affinity for colors. I couldn't be alone in this pre-emptive color manifesto.

With a fellow Cardano community member, I wanted try out the "Humans of New York" but with color. The scheduled 8.00 pm discord conversation turned into something else - it reverted back to your favorite segment, "a color story" as I dwelled in the impressions of a light grey background (pictured).

The call started off with some technical difficulties. My audio microphone wasn't functioning. The sound settings required adjustments.  But, all the parties were patient. I met Vicc initially at a South Beach Cardano event where he played the DJ. Luckily, my brother followed up with him and later reached out to make this discord conversation. Vicc was noted of trying out a "Humans of New York" but with colors. I repeated the same notion as we were getting familiar with each other in the online interaction. Two dinners in my belly calmed my nerves as I approached my unofficial debut self-prompt journalist task.

To get the ball rolling, I shared a little bit of my short stint as a DJ and mentioned that I rooted as a music producer with Ableton. The conversation took a quick natural turn as we both shared our growth in the software. I noticed that we took similar steps in our music production journey: sampling, sound design, vocals, mixing,  mastering.  I tried to connect our Ableton discussion with some color undertones but Vicc quickly caught on. I decided to refrain from the topic as our initial discussion felt refreshing- meeting other music nerds only happened twice in my life. We continued on our music thread with house drum patterns, grooves, time boxing, and our praise for Kaytranada's music production. I had to flex and share the secret party that Kaytranada DJ'd for his younger brother in an Montreal art gallery.  Of course, a photo was shared- I, the participant of the event, could barely believe the story.

My brother stepped in and we turned our attention to our involvement with the Cardano community. Vicc shared us his experiences and provided constructive feedback on our brand/strategy. Great timing as the ice broke through our appreciation in digital musical production. Then, we shared our thoughts on the whole NFT community, projects, and laughed about some of our downfalls. As I stepped back and listened to the others, I wondered if we were producers or just higher-level consumers of the NFT space? I have found parallels in my music journey as well.

Around 10.30 pm, we ended the discord call. I revisited the Ableton's Artists blog.
