GIF is an image format that plays a short animation endlessly. It is most commonly used to express a small rewarding joke in many online communities.
There is an untapped potential for using a GIF to express sensualities of just colors. With the help of the endless loop feature, GIF is the ideal "canvas" to express the beauty of colors.
how did the collection come to be?
A placeholder is a painting derivative displayed in a GIF. We would extract pick the best 250 paintings of a painter's lifelong career then convert the palette into a frame for a gif.
Finally, we would select 100 that were suitable for the placeholder project. Although there were many manual steps to achieve our end result, we believe it was the best way to represent an
artist's aesthetics.
why the four squares in a loop?
After being inspired by a Japanese poem that describes the sensuality of a white square being inside another white square, we thought it would be a neat exploration to dive into other colors. We would need constraints since the number of possibilities
would not be ideal if the colors were chosen randomly. We decided to look into color palettes and put them in a loop. Using color palettes from paintings, we wonder if a viewer can experience the same sensualities as the painting or even distinguish against other "placeholders".
how many placeholder nfts are there?
The first collection, milne collection has a total of 100 NFTs. We will be releasing 9 more artist-inspired placeholder collections in the same policy ID.
In total, there will be 1000 artist-inspired placeholder NFTs.
why so little?
This is our first project getting involved with the Cardano community. Hence, we are starting from scratch. Although we would like to pull off a 10,000 NFT release and sell out on the first day, we are realistic.
how will the nfts be minted? when will I receive my nft?
You have the option to randomly or selectively purchase your placeholder NFT. To selectively choose, scroll down on the landing page.
When it comes to receiving the NFT, it should take 15 minutes for it to appear in your wallet.
is there rarity in the collection?
Yes, there is! Most placeholder NFTs are "common". There are "rare" and "super rare" placeholders if you purchase 10 common placeholders, and 20 common placeholders, accordingly.
A "rare" placeholder contains three frames/colors while a "super rare" placeholder contains only two.
what's the process of receiving a "rare" nft?
From our end, we know when someone collects 10 or 20. We have exposure to a "receipt" and we can see the wallet address of the purchaser. The non-common placeholder will be airdropped to your wallet within 24 hours.
