why we write about our journey and share it

people love stories and our journey is no different. this is why we document a lot of our day to day and share it publicly.

There is only a limited amount of things you can write about your design process and faqs. But, sharing our journey on taking placeholders to the next level is always changing. Like how Bilbo Baggins documents his adventure in “The Hobbit”, we, “hobbits”, are documenting our adventure to a digital nothing to a digital brand.

People love stories and it is a great currency to share. Gary Vee, digital media entrepreneur, is the master at this. He has been documenting his journey for 15 years, consistently and shares his day to day (except for family life). He notices that creating content takes time but documenting your projects is easy to create. You are just telling it how it is. More importantly, it is your story to tell.

However, do people reciprocate to this? Is it worth the time. Yes, people love stories. We’ve only been sharing consistently for a week and our favorite post hasn’t been the giveaway post, it has been from a blog post. Recently, we have hit a PR of 7 likes and have increased our twitter following to 135 compare to 70. I guess we doubled our following by sharing original blog content.

Gary Vee might be on to something. People love stories.

Note: I remember the first time I’ve met Gary Vee at a Waterloo Conference. He had around 35k subscribers on his YouTube channel. Now, it’s at 3.5 million. It is motivating to see that kind of growth with him sharing his journey.
