lessons from milne collection launch day

failures are humiliating. learning from them is not humiliating.

Launch day is approaching. The countdown timer on the site just finishing its last minute. The Shopify sections are ready to be displayed, header announcement about to be toggled on, and the messages are ready to be sent on twitter.

Nothing. No excitement nor anticipation. Just the abyss laughing back at our "preparation". That was a tough egg to swallow. Even though you anticipated nothing to happen with last minute marketing preparation, your imagination of getting lucky doesn’t match up with the reality of the situation.

Before the official launch, we did well for the presale through friends and family, but the internet is a whole different category. Here are the things we’ve noticed through the process of the launch.

Driving community engagement requires consistent work.

Twitter engagement started out with following unsigned algorithm followers. This was done two days before the launch. This will not workout in the long-run before it will only engage potential collectors skin-deep. Next steps will be to engage followers by posting three tweets per day through excerpts of our blog posts (informational and transactional)

Virtual first impressions are tough.

Ideally, I would like the discord link to display in the footer, right beside the twitter logo. Ideally, I would like the blogs, faqs organized and shown in a sleek manner. Ideally, there would be a consistent design motif with the monochrome layout in the landing page, and the DIY sketches with the images on the blog posts. These ideal features will contribute to looking less sketchy, and potentially gain more trust. with visitors. Looking forward to making every page looks great, feels great, and under a consistent motif/design.

Logistic Issues

From scratch, there are three fundamental steps to collecting a placeholder nft. Setting up Newton to exchange cash from the bank for Cardano. Next, registering a digital wallet like Nami wallet. Finally, one must collect through the payment gateway of our website. Even going through one of these steps could take a week and we didn’t anticipate that. Although these factors are out of control, it is definitely something we should adjust to for the next launch.

Where to go from here:

The online community doesn't know anything about us. So, we are going to invest time and resources engaging with the community. Also, we will put more effort on our first impressions of the website, the landing page and the overall feel.
